Once again Young People Afloat has been fortunate to receive a generous donation from The Suffolk Foundation towards training costs.
This time they have paid £230 for a First Aid Instructors’ Course for Jim Cotton.
It will make a big difference to us to be able to run our own in-house training as well as the ability to offer our service to others,
thus raising valuable revenue for the club. This enables us to spend club money on other essential equipment.
The committee would like to thank them for their continued support.
Young People Afloat
are an RYA recognised teaching centre. We teach dinghy sailing at Lackford Sailing Base at Lackford Lake, Bury St Edmunds.
We are a youth group for youngsters between the ages of 9 and 18. All of the
instructors and safety boat drivers are RYA qualified. We normally have a waiting list, but if you are interested and would like your child to join us, then please click on the 'Fancy Joining' icon
and then click on the 'Add My Name' Icon and we will add your name to the list.
£10,000
Grant to YPA!
We are thrilled to learn that we have been awarded £10,000 from the National
Lottery Sport England fund. The Royal
Yachting Association supported our bid and we are delighted that Sport England
felt our club to be a worthy recipient of this grant.
The money enables us to purchase three more RS Fevas.
Last year we received a grant from the West Suffolk LSP to buy 4 Oppis
which increased the number of beginners joining the club, These Fevas are
essential to enable them to progress to challenging boats as they become more
competent sailors. They will be great for
racing and spinnaker work as well as achieving advanced RYA qualifications.
