 Y.P.A. is a voluntary run organisation whose aim is to give youngsters between the ages of 9 and 18 years old at the start of the year the opportunity to learn how to sail.

Youth Group

 As a youth group we are affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association, Suffolk Water Sport Association, St. Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association. Safer Activities For Everyone and the Association of Youth Clubs.

Sailing

Sailing takes place at Lackford Lake on Wednesday evenings from 1800 until dusk, from April until September. An evening taster session or a summer course will be run for potential members who are on the waiting list. (Numbers permitting)

Safety

Safety is paramount at Y.P.A.

We have two of our own safety boats at the lake which will be manned with an Royal Yachting Association qualified safety boat driver during sailing sessions.

 The instructors at Y.P.A. are recognised RYA dinghy instructors

 Y.P.A. have a wide selection of buoyancy aids, which are distributed at the start of the sailing session, no one is allowed to go onto the water without wearing a buoyancy aid.

 All instructors and their helpers are volunteers and give their time free of charge and would therefore welcome as much additional parental help as you are able to give.

 Subscription

The cost of one year’s membership is £38.00 with a reduction to £29 for the second child and subsequent siblings £24 each. There is a joining fee of £15.00 per family.

An additional charge of £8.00 is made per evening session; this will be collected on attendance.

 Waiting List

We are limited to the number of children we can instruct, we only take new members at the start of the season. A evening taster session or a summer course may be offered to the youngsters on the waiting list at the instructors discretion. They will remain on the waiting list and will be offered membership when spaces are available.

After completing the add my name form, you should receive a conformation email stating that your name has been added to the waiting list with in a couple of days. If you do not receive conformation then please resend the form.
