Money for new boats
West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership brings together public sector
organisations
and representatives from local businesses and voluntary or community groups.
They work together to make life better for residents in West Suffolk. They
concentrate on issues such as health and well-being, the needs of young
people and older people, community safety, local skills, training and the
environment. Young People Afloat recently applied to them for a grant
to purchase more boats with a view to increasing the numbers of beginners we
can accommodate each year. The committee was thrilled to receive the news
last month that our application for £11,664 has been approved. Four
more Optimists will enable us to offer beginner places to twelve instead of
eight. Another Topper and Laser will expand the fleet so
that those extra young people have boats to progress to in subsequent years.
We look forward to having these six new boats and welcoming more young
people to join us in the spring. We are indebted to the WSLSP for
supporting our application.
Congratulations to Graham
Graham has just
completed his power boat instructors course, this will enable him to teach
power boat to level 2. Any parent who fancies driving one of our support
boats please get in touch and we will try to arrange a course.
